01 / Overview

Rice for puttu podi, chilli for masala and herbs for churna all meet the same machine at some point: the grinder. The Pulveriser is the one that turns them into powder, and in Kerala flour mills and rice powder units it is the workhorse.

Material falls from a top hopper into a grinding housing. A fast rotor with beaters or hammers flings it against the chamber liner and breaks it down. The powder then passes through a sieve or screen, and the holes in that screen decide how fine it is. Feed is continuous and a round door gives access to the chamber. A belt drive turns the rotor from a pulley at the side.

Rice powder units, spice units, job-work flour mills and ayurvedic manufacturers all run it. In a rice line it comes after washing and before roasting; for spices and herbs it follows the dryer or roaster, and the powder then moves to a sifter. Sizes run from 5KG onwards, and we also make mini, portable and impact variants.

04 / Questions

Can the Pulveriser grind soaked rice for puttu podi?

Yes. It grinds washed, soaked and drained rice for puttu podi and appam flour. Drain the rice well first, because wet rice clogs a fine sieve; tell us how damp your rice is and we will choose the sieve.

Can one Pulveriser grind both rice and chilli?

Mechanically it can, but chilli leaves colour, heat and smell in the chamber and the sieve. Most units dedicate one pulveriser to rice and another to spices, which keeps the flavours of each product apart.

How do I get a finer powder from the Pulveriser?

Fit a finer sieve or screen. Finer holes give finer powder but slower output, so a very fine setting suits small batches best. Change the screen again when you move from rice to coarser spice.
