01 / Overview
Not every kitchen or mill has a boiler, a gas bank or a supply of wood. The Electric Roaster takes its heat from electric heating alone, so a site with three-phase power can roast rice powder, rava and spices without any of those.
The round pan is stirred by a geared motor mounted above it, and a control panel on the wall lets the operator work to a set temperature. Arms turn the batch and scrape the pan so the roast stays even and nothing sticks. This is the roaster we place in our hotels and catering range.
Small and medium rice powder units, hotel and catering kitchens and ayurvedic makers are the usual buyers. It follows pulverising and comes before sifting, in the same position as the steam roaster. Sizes run from 15KG to 500KG.
02 / Construction & use
Features
- Electric heating means no flame, no gas cylinder and no boiler to run beside the pan.
- Geared motor on a top frame drives stirrer arms that turn and scrape the batch.
- Wall-mounted control panel for setting and holding the roasting temperature.
- Round stainless pan is easy to empty and wash, which suits kitchens that change products often.
- Needs a three-phase supply, so check the power at the site before choosing it.
Used to make
- Rice flour for puttu and idiyappam in small batches
- Rava and wheat flour for catering use
- Coconut roasted for chammanthi podi
- Masala and whole spices before grinding
- Peanuts and grams roasted for snacks
03 / Choosing
- Steam Roaster
The Steam Roaster needs a boiler but handles much larger batches than this one. Take the Electric Roaster when no boiler is installed and batches stay moderate, and take steam when volume grows.
- Uruli Roaster (LPG)
The Uruli Roaster (LPG) heats with a gas flame and asks little of the electrical supply beyond its stirrer. The Electric Roaster has no flame and holds a set temperature from its control panel.
04 / Questions
Does the Electric Roaster need three-phase power?
It runs on 440V three-phase AC. Check the supply at your site first, because a heated pan draws far more power than a stirrer motor alone. If only single-phase is available, tell us what you have and we will advise.
Can the Electric Roaster roast coconut for chammanthi podi?
Yes. The pan and stirrer take grated or chipped coconut as well as rice powder and rava. Coconut is oily and sticks if left alone, so keep the arms turning and the batch moving through the whole roast for an even colour.
Is the Electric Roaster cheaper to run than a gas roaster?
That depends on local tariffs for electricity and gas, so no figure is given here. Electric removes the gas cylinder and the flame; gas usually reaches roasting heat sooner. Compare both against your own rates and batch pattern.
